About the role
We are seeking an experienced and talented Head Chef to join our team at Headlands Austinmer Beach, a renowned hospitality location in the picturesque coastal town of Austinmer, NSW. As our Bistro Head Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing all main floor operations, crafting exceptional dishes that showcase the local and seasonal ingredients. This full-time position offers the opportunity to lead a large & passionate kitchen team and contribute to the continued success of our award-winning venue.
Responsibilities
* Develop and refine the bistro's menu, ensuring a balance of cutting-edge and pub classic dishes.
* Manage and train a team of skilled chefs, fostering a collaborative and dynamic kitchen workplace.
* Ensure the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency across all menu items.
* Implement effective inventory management and cost-control measures to optimise operational efficiency.
* Collaborate with the management team to align culinary offerings with the venue's overall vision and brand.
* Stay up-to-date with industry trends, techniques, and best practices to continuously enhance the dining experience.
* Maintain a safe, organised, and well-maintained kitchen in compliance with all health and safety regulations.
Qualifications
* Minimum 3 years of experience as a Head Chef or equivalent role in a high-quality restaurant or hospitality establishment.
* Demonstrated expertise in creating and executing cutting-edge, flavourful, and visually appealing dishes.
* Robust leadership skills and the ability to effectively manage and motivate a diverse kitchen team.
* Excellent time management, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities.
* Thorough understanding of food cost control, inventory management, and budgeting.
* Passion for working with fresh, seasonal, and locally sourced ingredients.
* Certification in food safety and hygiene, with a commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant kitchen environment.
