Role Overview
The Financial Accountant will be pivotal in designing, maintaining, and reporting detailed unit economics models for franchise and corporate laundromats. This role involves hands-on management of weekly franchise pay runs, cashflow forecasting, and working capital management, all powered by Xero, Stripe, and automation tools integrated with Spinzone's AI backend. Reporting directly to the founder, this is a high-impact position requiring precision, proactive insight, and robust financial governance.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the design and continuous improvement of detailed unit economics models per franchise and corporate location to inform pricing, expansion, and investment decisions.
* Manage weekly reconciliation and pay runs: verify and reconcile Stripe sales data, calculate franchise fees, admin fees, machine fees, and ensure correct automated distribution to franchisees and corporate units.
* Maintain general ledger integrity and ensure all transactions comply with Australian Accounting Standards (including IFRS) and internal controls.
* Produce accurate weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial reports, including variance analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, and KPI dashboards tailored to Spinzone's multi-entity structure.
* Conduct cashflow forecasting and working capital management, factoring in weekly pay runs and payout timing, mitigating risks from payment delays or system integration errors.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams (IT, data analysts, legal) to enhance automation, AI-driven accounting processes, and financial transparency.
* Support internal and external audit processes with clear documentation and reporting accuracy.
* Mentor junior finance team members and drive best practices in financial workflows and governance.
* Provide financial insights directly to the founder to support strategic decision-making.
Qualifications and Experience
* Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
* CA or CPA qualified, or actively pursuing the qualification.
* Minimum 3+ years experience in financial accounting in a multi-entity, technology-enabled environment; multinational/franchise experience preferred.
* Strong understanding of Australian Accounting Standards (AASB), IFRS, and compliance within franchising or investment business models.
* Hands-on with Xero and payment gateway reconciliations (preferably Stripe). Experience with automation tools, PowerQuery, or PowerBI is highly desirable.
* Proven experience managing inter-entity accounting, revenue allocation, and fee structures within franchise or corporate groups.
* Strong Excel skills and familiarity with dashboards, pivot tables, and financial modeling.
* Exposure to AI-powered financial analytics or backend systems integration is a major plus.
