Editor, Children's Books
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Editor to join our dynamic children's editorial team. As an Editor, you will play a key role in publishing exciting and distinctive talent, championing books, authors, and illustrators with a clear vision.
The Role
You will support key projects, manage your own titles from manuscript delivery to printer-ready files, and maintain title data in our bibliographic system. You will also read and report on submissions, contribute to creative conversations about growing the list, and liaise with authors, illustrators, agents, freelancers, and internal colleagues.
The Candidate Profile:
We are looking for a motivated, committed, and creative individual with excellent editorial skills, a forensic eye for detail, and knowledge of typesetting and typography. You should have experience working in children's publishing, although we are open to candidates with other book experience. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment and be able to adapt to the demands of managing multiple schedules.
This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a successful and growing publishing house with an impressive list of authors and illustrators across the board. We have big plans for our children's and YA list: we're in an exciting phase of growth, and we'd love you to be part of that.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* A passion for children's books and experience working in children's publishing.
* Excellent editorial skills, including structural and line editing, proofreading, and copywriting.
* Strong communication, project management, organizational, and time management skills.
* A thorough understanding of editorial and production processes.
Benefits and What We Offer:
We offer a competitive salary, flexible working arrangement, and the opportunity to work on exciting projects. You will be part of a small team, so you will be happy to pitch in and collaborate with others. We are an equal opportunity employer and welcome applications from diverse candidates.
