This position has the responsibility for project management including planning, tracking, and administration to produce completed functional product and product system designs.
What will you be doing?
- Consult with the marketing staff, sponsoring surgeons, and manufacturing staff, as required, to facilitate proper design of products.
- Act as a consultant on the design of special products.
- Review design drawings, as well as approved final drawings.
- Staff department personnel, conduct career planning, performance and promotional reviews, and long-range personnel planning for department growth.
- Manage fiscal responsibilities including yearly expense and capital budget planning, maintenance of expenditures to budget, and expense authorization below approved manager level.
- Oversee project assignment of personnel and resources to ensure progress of design to schedule; manage departmental projects including creation of new products and engineering maintenance of existing products within department scope.
- Assist the director in strategic input to assess and propose projects to meet market needs.
- Coordinate with marketing and manufacturing to provide short and long-term project communication and interdepartmental coordination.
- Align group objectives with departmental objectives and distribute responsibilities and objectives to individuals; provide department plans and objectives on a yearly and as-needed basis to group management.
- Establish relationships with key surgeons (domestic and international) and leading researchers.
- Ensure integrity and innovation of all product designs within the specific product group.
- Address legal issues, including patents, regarding specific product group products.
- Assist in organizational and budgetary issues in the Visionaire Development Department.
What will you need to be successful?
- Bachelor's degree in a related Engineering field with 7 years of related experience, or MS in Business, Marketing or Engineering, or BS in related Engineering with 5 years of related experience.
- At least 3 years of management experience (direct/indirect).
- Travel requirements: 25%.
