**The Opportunity**
Wingecarribee Shire Council is seeking an experienced Fleet Coordinator to join our Fleet Services Team. Reporting to the Manager Shire Presentation, this role forms the critical link to ensure the implementation of strategic business strategies and leadership of a team of technical and semi-professional staff that maintain a sustainable, fit-for purpose plant/fleet management services.
As the Fleet Coordinator, you'll be responsible for the end to end management of Councils fleet assets, from procurement through to disposal.You'll strategically manage Councils light and heavy vehicle fleet through effective planning, acquisition, modification and disposal of fleet and plant assets.
Your primary focus will be developing and implementing maintenance strategies and leading the fleet team to obtain 'fit for purpose' fleet for operations and future sustainability.
Through your strong experience in fleet management, you will drive the creation and delivery of council Light and Heavy Fleet asset management plan, financial and budget plans, develop strategy, policy and procedures to ensure best practice outcomes, managing the fleet tender process in line with councils procurement policy, developing short and long-term fleet replacement programs, and providing leadership to the Fleet Service Team that reports to this role.
Through embedding continual improvement and best practice across the team, you will take responsibility for maintaining a strong customer focus aligned with business deliverables. Your passion for innovation and navigating solutions within a fast paced and complex environment whilst managing a variety of stakeholders will be key to your success in this role.
As part of our growing team, your strong hands-on skills for the implementation of corrective and preventative maintenance duties will be complemented by your ability to strategically plan in a highly autonomous environment while assisting in mentoring and growing of the less experienced members of the team.
Key to this role is your ability to develop strategic direction and act upon your own thinking. In addition to autonomy, you will have the support and guidance of being part of a wider multi-disciplinary Shire Presentation Team.
**Selection Criteria**
- Tertiary qualifications in Business, or a senior mechanical trade/technician, or significant experience in a similar role.
- Demonstrated experience in the use of computerised fleet asset management and financial accounting systems, and a high level of computer literacy including strong spreadsheet and database skills within the Microsoft office suite.
- Sound knowledge of government procurement, tendering policies and contract management.
- Experience in the development and implementation of best practice plant and fleet management guidelines and systems.
- Demonstratedunderstandingofaccountingprocessesandexperienceinbudgetsettingandmanagement.
- High level of communication skills, with superb writing and editorial skills, particularly the ability to distil complex ideas into accessible internal and external communications to a diverse audience in a clear,fluent and concise manner.
- Proven leadership ability with strong demonstrated experience in performance management and staff development leading and managing a team to inspire and motivate a team culture of continuous improvement.
- Ability to drive change through policy, procedural and system improvements.
- A high level of interpersonal, presentation and communication (verbal and written)skills.
- Entrepreneurial spirit and a genuine interest in proactively implementing a continuous improvement business model.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to prioritise and complete tasks efficiently and to deadlines.
- Current NSW Driver's Licence (Class C).
**Desirable**
- Passion for change, innovation and technology.
- Knowledge of Council's Financial and Fleet Management Software - Finance One and Ausfleet.
- RMS safety check qualifications (HVAIS examiner)
- Heavy Rigid (HR) Driver's Licence.
- Certificate IV Trainer and assessor.
- Authorised Inspection Scheme (AIS) accredited.
- Local Government Experience.
