Compliance and Safety Manager – Amusement Park

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Compliance and Safety Manager to join our leadership team and help keep the fun safe! This pivotal role ensures our theme park operates to the highest safety standards, while meeting all compliance obligations under Queensland legislation for major amusement parks.
The successful candidate will oversee our Safety Management System, manage our Safety Case, and lead safety, compliance, and emergency management strategies across the park.
This is a unique opportunity to combine technical expertise with people leadership in one of Queensland’s most exciting industries.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the park’s Compliance and Safety Management within the Safety Case Framework.
* Ensure full regulatory compliance with Queensland WHS laws, AS 3533 standards, and Major Amusement Park Licence requirements.
* Lead and oversee the development of risk-based and process-driven Safety Management System, Standards and Procedures.
* Liaise with Queensland Workplace Health and Safety regulator and inspector
* Investigate amusement ride incidents and review bulletins, implement corrective actions, and maintain compliance records.
* Providing training and support to employees on safety protocols and procedures
* Lead the Safety Case Focus Group, includes meeting, agenda and actions plan
* Oversee maintenance and inspection compliance for amusement devices.
* Promote a strong safety culture across all teams.
What We’re Looking For
* Tertiary qualification in Risk, Safety, Compliance, Engineering or proven experience (8 + years) in senior roles across compliance, safety and assurance.
* Experience in the development of Safety Case Documentation of a Major Hazard Facility
* Strong knowledge of Queensland WHS legislation and AS 3533 (Amusement Devices).
* Demonstrate success in developing and implementing compliance and safety program and project management.
* Proficiency in using data analytics tools to monitor and report on safety performance
* Technical understanding of amusement device inspection and compliance requirements.
* Proven ability to engage with regulators, auditors, and stakeholders.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to influence and drive change.
* Aviation industry and major hazard facilities experience or background highly desirable – particularly in risk management, compliance, and safety systems.
