Join our Youth and Wellbeing team as a Receptionist, providing a warm, professional first point of contact for community members, visitors and staff.
This flexible casual role supports the smooth running of reception and administration, ensuring services reflect Njernda’s values of respect, accountability, resilience, advocacy and cultural sensitivity.

In this role, you will:
✔️ Greet community members, visitors, and staff with professionalism and cultural respect
✔️ Answer and redirect phone calls, manage appointments, and assist with referrals
✔️ Provide general administration support including filing, data entry and preparing documents
✔️ Maintain a welcoming and organised reception area and meeting spaces
✔️ Support staff with bookings, supplies, and day-to-day office coordination
About You:
✔️ Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identity is essential for this role
✔️ Certificate III in Business (or similar) and/or reception or admin experience
✔️ Strong knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal people, culture, and community
✔️ Effective communication and teamwork skills, with cultural sensitivity
✔️ Computer literacy, time management skills, and ability to maintain confidentiality
Selection Criteria
Essential:
Qualifications
- Certificate III in business or previous experience in a reception role.
Skills
- A proven knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal people and Aboriginal culture is essential.
- An ability to communicate effectively with Aboriginal people and handle issues in a sensitive manner.
- A proven ability to manage time effectively and efficiently.
- A demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and effectively as part of a team.
- Well-developed computer skills.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
Experience
- 1 Year experience in a reception position.
Satisfactory evidence of:
- Pre-employment checks not limited to at least two professional referees
- Proof of identity and qualifications/National police check/Working with Children’s Check/full Victorian driver’s license,
- Disclosure of any pre-existing illness / injury and vaccination status in line with Njernda’s current policy and procedure
- As applicable, eligibility to work in Australia, professional/regulatory licenses, registration and current good standing, and clearance on aged care banning orders.
Desirable:
- Certificate III or IV in business or business administration
