Purpose of the Position
The Clinical Director North Shore Ryde Mental Health Service (NSRMHS) works in collaboration with the Service Director of the NSRMHS to lead, develop and maintain mental health services of the highest possible quality and safety. The incumbent has delegated responsibility for the clinical governance of the service, including clinical quality and safety. The incumbent is directly responsible for the senior and junior medical workforce, including the recruitment, retention and leadership of the medical workforce.
The Clinical Director NSRMHS provides oversight of supervision, education and training of all medical staff and provides support and guidance to enable clinicians to become active participants within the learning and performance-oriented culture of Mental Health Drug & Alcohol Service (MHDA) of the Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD).
The Clinical Director NSRMHS ensures that required clinical key performance indicators are monitored and achieved. The incumbent also leads, advises upon, develops and implements clinical service plans and models of care, in collaboration with the Service Director.
The Clinical Director NSRMHS provides leadership in the delivery of best practice clinical care (including ECT, psychological, psychosocial and pharmacological interventions across inpatient, community and general hospital consultation-liaison settings), project management (as required), clinical data collection, clinical documentation, application of legislation pertinent to clinical care, practice management, clinical advice in complex cases and inter-agency collaboration for mental health consumers.
Selection Criteria
* MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia. Fellowship of the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Psychiatrist and/or overseas trained substantial specialist pathways.
* Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our consumers and those that care for them.
* Demonstrated experience in working as a senior clinician in psychiatry, including experience in working with the NSW Mental Health Act (2007) and proven ability to work as a leader of a multidisciplinary team across hospital and community settings; proven high performance as an experienced clinician, with experience in management and leadership and proven ability to work as a manager.
* Understanding of and commitment to the National, State and Local Health District strategic direction, including commitment to a performance-based organisation.
* Experience in liaising and working closely with GPs, consumers and carers with demonstrated understanding of the recovery and care coordination models of care.
* Experience in teaching psychiatry to students, trainees and others and supervising trainees in psychiatry.
* Demonstrated interest in improvement of clinical governance of mental health services, including quality improvement methodologies, and a commitment to fostering this interest in medical staff and other clinicians.
* Current Drivers licence and the ability to drive.
