About Us
The South Australian Metropolitan Fire Service (MFS) is responsible for protecting the South Australian community from the effects of fire, road crashes, chemical incidents and other emergencies. We are a team of approximately 1,300 operational personnel and corporate professionals serving the Community across 20 metropolitan and 17 regional fire stations.
About the role
The Senior Facilities Officer plays a key role in coordinating and supporting maintenance, repair, and minor works across MFS assets and infrastructure. Operating under general direction, the role ensures the smooth delivery of facilities management services, contributes to the continuous improvement of administrative systems, and maintains compliance with government policies and standards.
You will liaise closely with MFS staff, senior management, service providers, and contractors to ensure assets remain operational, safe, and fit for purpose, even during emergency events. Your work will cover everything from managing preventative and breakdown maintenance schedules, coordinating contractors and managing schedules, supporting asset security systems, and delivering minor projects, to promoting energy efficiency and maintaining detailed administrative records.
About you
Demonstrated experience in delivering facilities management services across multi-site, complex property portfolios.
Proven ability to manage both planned and unplanned maintenance programs, including asset registers, condition audits, and compliance documentation.
Strong skills in using Microsoft Office, asset management systems, building management systems (BMS), access control, and security systems.
Experience in project management, particularly with minor works and refurbishment projects.
Skilled in overseeing contractor performance across a range of service contracts (e.g., AGFMA, security, grounds maintenance, cleaning, waste).
Excellent organisational and time management abilities, with the capacity to prioritise multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills to achieve quality, cost-effective outcomes.
Analytical aptitude for interpreting financial data, performance metrics, and building plans to inform decision-making.
Sound knowledge of WHS legislation, principles, and risk management practices.
Commitment to fostering positive stakeholder relationships and delivering high-quality service.
