Our client is an Australian success story, manufacturing and distributing some of the best household brands in this sector. With organic growth and an acquisitive roadmap, they are now at market for a newly created Purchasing Manager to drive the division to greater efficiencies.
About the Role
You will be tasked with leading procurement, inbound freight, and demand planning across three business units within a national warehousing and distribution network. You will balance the needs of each business unit while leveraging combined scale and synergies to optimise performance
* Key Responsibilities: Newly created role with endless scope
* Strategic Procurement & Supplier Management - Develop and execute a unified procurement strategy
* Inbound Freight & Logistics Coordination - Oversee national inbound freight operations (carrier selection, rate negotiation, routing, and service monitoring)
* Demand Planning & Forecasting - Develop monthly, quarterly, and annual demand plans while accommodating seasonality, promotions, and business-specific requirements.
* Reporting, Compliance & Continuous Improvement - Develop and manage dashboards across the business (purchasing, freight, and planning)
* Staff Management - overseeing a team 4 SME purchasing officers, mentoring on systems, strategy and whole of business framework
About You:
* 5+ years of procurement or supply chain experience, ideally in warehousing, distribution, or multi-business-unit environments.
* Strong understanding of inbound freight management, transportation planning, and vendor performance.
* Demonstrated experience with demand planning, forecasting, and inventory management.
* Proficiency in ERP/MRP/WMS systems and advanced Excel or planning tools.
* Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
* Ability to manage competing priorities across multiple stakeholders and business units.
* Demonstrated ability to lead a skilled and self-reliant team
