About The Role
As a Day Stay Porter, you will be at the heart of patient flow—supporting safe transport, preparing environments, and assisting with essential logistics across the unit. Your work ensures patients move comfortably through their care journey while enabling clinical staff to focus on delivering high-quality treatment.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Transport & Support
Safely transport patients throughout the hospitalAssist with mobility in line with manual handling guidelinesProvide meals post-procedure in line with dietary needsOffer compassionate, respectful support to patients and families
Equipment & Supplies
Move equipment, supplies, and consumables as requiredMaintain cleanliness and readiness of wheelchairs, trolleys, and equipmentAssist with setting up patient care areas
Environmental Support
Keep patient areas clean, tidy, and well-stockedSupport linen management and waste disposal (including clinical waste)
Teamwork & Communication
Work closely with nursing, medical, and support teamsDeliver items, messages, and equipment promptlyEscalate safety concerns or equipment issues as needed
Safety & Compliance
Follow infection control, manual handling, and safety protocolsParticipate in training and continuous improvement activitiesUphold patient dignity, privacy, and confidentiality at all times
About You
Essential
Ability to safely perform manual handling and patient transport tasksStrong communication and interpersonal skillsReliable, organised, and able to work both independently and in a teamCommitment to patient-centred care
Desirable
Experience in a healthcare or patient transport settingUnderstanding of infection control practicesFamiliarity with clinical environments and patient flow
