Fitness Specialist Position
We are seeking a Fitness Specialist to join our team at Northwestern Medicine Huntley Health & Fitness Center, managed by Power Wellness Management. Our center specializes in providing state-of-the-art medically integrated health and fitness services.
Job Summary
The Fitness Specialist is responsible for delivering exceptional fitness services to members and guests while maintaining the highest level of customer service standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provide Fitness Services: Offer professional fitness guidance and instruction to members, guests, and program participants on the fitness floor.
2. Screen and Coordinate Medical Clearances: Gather health history information and facilitate medical clearance processes as necessary.
3. Schedule Appointments: Manage appointments for fitness assessments, orientations, and follow-up sessions according to established protocols.
4. Deliver Fitness Assessment Results: Present exercise guidelines and recommendations based on assessment results, discussing individual goals with members.
5. Respond to Medical Emergencies: Act as a first responder in case of emergencies, bringing AED and first aid supplies, and completing incident reports.
6. Promote Ancillary Services: Effectively sell services like personal training, medically integrated programs, wellness coaching, and nutrition services.
7. Stay Informed: Maintain knowledge of events and activities within the center.
8. Facility Rounds: Conduct regular facility checks, monitoring pool, locker rooms, and fitness areas.
9. Perform Opening and Closing Procedures: Complete scheduled opening and closing procedures, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
10. Maintain Cleanliness: Ensure fitness areas and equipment are clean, inspecting equipment and upholstery, and reporting maintenance needs.
11. Lift 45 Pounds: Possess the ability to lift up to 45 pounds.
12. Flexibility: Demonstrate flexibility in accommodating center hours, work schedules, and scheduling appointments.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's Degree: Require a degree from a 4-year college or university in a health-related field, exercise science, kinesiology, or physical education.
* Prior Experience: Prior part-time work experience or internship in the fitness industry is preferred.
* CPR/AED Certification: Obtain CPR/AED certification within 90 days of hire (provided by Power Wellness).
* Nationally Recognized Certifications: Hold nationally recognized NCCA-accredited certifications.
* Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, working effectively with members in a positive and service-based manner.
* Multi-Tasking and Professionalism: Demonstrate the ability to multitask and maintain a controlled and professional demeanor.
* Computer Skills: Be proficient in computer skills.
