Job Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Wildlife Technical Officer to join our team in the Flora and Fauna Division of the Department of Lands, Planning and Environment. This role will involve working closely with Traditional Owners, landholders, and key stakeholders to develop and implement effective management strategies for the Territory's unique species and biodiversity.
Main Responsibilities:
* Liaise with Traditional Owners, landholders, and key stakeholders to gather information and input on crocodile population surveys and field research.
* Conduct monitoring and assessments to identify areas of high conservation value and develop recommendations for management strategies.
* Collaborate with researchers and scientists to analyze data and provide insights on crocodile biology and behavior.
Key Requirements:
* Hold a certification as a Coxswain from the Australian Maritime Safety Authority.
* Have knowledge of crocodile biology and management principles.
* Be experienced in using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software and manual 4 WD vehicles.
