What you'll do
Use medical typing skills to transcribe electronic and handwritten medical reports into the laboratory information system in a proficient manner to meet reporting deadlines. This will include all medical typing and registration, including participating in the state-wide typing pool.
Assist with the provision of administrative support to the Group Laboratory Manager.
Maintain an efficient standard of administrative support to the medical staff in the retrieval of slides and the preparation of associated documentation and reference material for Anatomical Pathology Clinicopath meetings.
Maintain efficient standard of administrative support services for the Division by providing support in the areas of telephone enquiries, correspondence, filing, scanning, photocopying and reference retrieval duties including slides and blocks.
Comply with NATA/ISO accreditation/certification requirements including performing quality control procedures, assisting with preparation of procedure manuals and completion of relevant statistics.
Comply with and utilise procedures, policies, regulations, and standards which impact upon the position, including the Queensland Health Code of Conduct, contemporary human resource management requirements and practices, such as Workplace Health and Safety, Infection Control, Equal Employment Opportunity, and Anti-discrimination Policy.
About you
We are searching for someone who has:
Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to deal with people at all levels of the organisation and external agencies.
Organisational skills and the ability to use initiative, delegate and be adaptable when performing or administering tasks in a constantly changing and dynamic environment.
Proven ability to establish, manage and maintain office systems and databases. High level skills in Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team, to accurately complete and prioritize work and to be flexible and dynamic in a highly client focused environment.
Sound knowledge of medical terminology and experience in medical typing.
