Director Environmental Services Job Description
This is a strategic leadership role that oversees the environmental sustainability and compliance functions of a local government.
The Director Environmental Services will be responsible for shaping the future of environmental leadership in the community by providing strategic and operational guidance to a multi-disciplinary team.
* Key Responsibilities:
* Drive the delivery of capital works and maintenance programs relating to property and environmental infrastructure.
* Lead the implementation of waste management strategies and environmental initiatives.
* Oversee key regulatory functions including environmental health, animal management, parking enforcement, and local laws.
* Ensure effective planning, budgeting, and monitoring of services and projects.
* Represent the Directorate at Council meetings and contribute to strategic planning and corporate decision-making.
About You
You are a visionary leader with a passion for environmental sustainability, regulatory excellence, and community-focused outcomes.
* Tertiary qualifications in environmental science, engineering, planning, or a related field.
* Extensive senior leadership experience in a complex organisation - local government experience is highly regarded.
* Demonstrated expertise in property asset management, capital works delivery, waste and environmental management, and compliance functions.
* Strong people management skills and the ability to build positive, high-performing teams.
* A track record of successfully managing budgets, contracts, programs, and complex stakeholder relationships.
* Superior communication, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
