Job Description
About the role
As a key member of the ATSICHS Brisbane team, the ATSICHS The Family Participation Program (FPP) supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families involved in the statutory child protection system by empowering them to address and resolve child safety concerns through a culturally grounded Family Led Decision Making framework.

Duties

* Work closely with CSSC Cultural Practice Advisors, Team Leaders, and Child Safety Officers in building responsive referrals and engagement into the program. Triage based on priority referrals (e.g. unborn child, limited support network of parent, significant cumulative harm etc).
* Effectively engage all key family members. Turn initial 'service offerings' home visit into consent by delivering motivational interviewing and positive reinforcement practice interventions.
* Deliver immediate safety assessment and safety responses, documented and approved by line-Manager, in all instances that pose significant harm to a family or child (e.g. domestic violence, removal at birth, mental health, child abuse and neglect etc).
* Facilitate ATSICHS 'Narrative Assessment Tools' completed in full by client, ensuring the voices of family are imbedded in their Family Plan (case plan).
* Facilitate FLDM meetings with broader family kin, gaining family consensus on their challenges and path forward. Utilise the ATSIFLDM framework in facilitating meetings. In Ongoing Intervention (OI) matters, adhering to the Child Safety Family Group Meeting Convenor Handbook requirements.
* Deliver case managed services according to the program model of care, ensuring minimum case load requirements are maintained to ensure equitable access to services for community.
* Maintain accurate and detailed case notes of all client interactions, ensuring case notes are written from the perspective of clients in their voice.
* Ensure clients complete the 'Have Your Say' client feedback tool and submit. Act on the client feedback to make continuous improvements to your practice and approach with clients.
* As per MOBnet Performance module, participate in monthly prescheduled supervision with direct line Manager. Ensure Supervision tasks are the priority in work completion. Ensure all associated monthly supervision tasks in MOBnet are completed (two-way feedback, team culture score etc).

Desired Skills And Experience
Required

* Degree Qualification+ Moderate Experience: Bachelor's degree in a relevant social services field with at least 4 years case management experience in family support, child protection, youth support, housing or related field.

OR

* Diploma + High Experience: Diploma in relevant Community/Services field with at least 6 years in a case management role in family support, child protection, youth support, housing or related field.

OR

* Nil Qualifications + High Experience + Strong Cultural Engagement: At least 6 years case management experience in family support, child protection, youth, housing or related field. A commitment to complete Diploma (funded by ATSICHS) while working. And identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander (with confirmation proof) OR non-indigenous and having worked for an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation for at least 4 years.

AND

* Exceptional case management skills, including grammatical writing ability, personal organisation and time management, and execution of services according to the model of care phases of work.
* Demonstrated ability to create new social work theoretical frameworks of practice, aligned with ATSICHS values. Ability to coach other staff on client interventions that build client motivation, insight and acceptance, self-awareness, decision making (agency), and sustainable behaviour change.
* Ability to apply technical knowledge of relevant legislation (child protection/housing/youth justice etc). Ability to critique and problem solve legislative grey zones, while managing organisational and child/client harm risks.
* Ability to manage interpersonal conflict with families and Chid Safety, while de-escalating heightened interactions towards solutions-oriented plans.
* Ability to influence decisions of Child Safety and other key stakeholders.
* Ability to connect through systems panel coordination numerous internal ATSICHS programs and services to activate wrap-around care for clients, trading-off and negotiating resources across the organisation and between other teams to achieve client impact.

Additional Requirements

* National Police Certificate.
* Working With Children's Blue Card or be eligible to apply.
* Driver's License.
* Evidence of Work Rights.
* Travel to work in the community on a regular basis.
