This is a great opportunity for a Senior Associate to join a growing Professional Risk practice in Brisbane, working directly with a highly experienced Partner on a broad mix of professional negligence, disciplinary and injury matters.
The role has been created due to continued growth in the practice and the increasing need for senior support within the team. With several junior lawyers already in place, the position offers the chance to step into a more senior role and support the Partner in guiding and mentoring the Lawyers and Associates in the team.
There is a very interesting mix of work here, with the team acting on behalf of professionals, directors and companies across the healthcare, IT and financial services sectors, in disputes arising from allegations of professional negligence and breaches of duty, as well as disciplinary complaints, employment practices claims and personal injury litigation.
You will work closely with a Partner who has more than 20 years' experience across Australia and the UK in professional risks, public and product liability, and personal injury matters. They regularly advises insurers, corporations, associations and government bodies on professional indemnity claims, policy indemnity issues and complex disputes involving alleged breaches of professional duties and liability matters.
The work spans both litigated and non-litigated disputes, with a strong focus on early resolution strategies, including mediation and alternative dispute resolution. Matters often involve a defence component against negligence and misconduct allegations for professionals and organisations, while also managing regulatory complaints and disciplinary processes.
The team operates in a collaborative environment with direct Partner access and strong exposure to clients. The position offers a well-rounded mix of hands‐on litigation, client interaction and responsibility within a respected national insurance practice.
