$88090 + Super 12% + NFP Salary Sacrifice

An exciting opportunity exists to work for one of South West Queensland's most dynamic and community responsive organisations. Lifeline Darling Downs (LDDSWQL) has been serving the community of Toowoomba, and the wider South Western Queensland area for 50 years.

About the Role

The Domestic and Family Violence First Nations Peoples Support Worker (DFVSW) will work with our existing Safe Connections support practitioners to dedicate support for First Nations service users. The First Nations Peoples DFV Support Worker will advocate for service users and ensure cultural safety for this client group. This role will enable a better responsiveness for our First Nations service users and will be a support role, working with our existing DFV support practitioners. Support Workers in this role will provide support to service users and Safe Connections Support Practitioners in South West Queensland with a focus on the Balonne region. Service users may include individuals and groups and travel will be required.

Key Responsibilities

- To work predominantly with First Nations victim-survivors and their children delivering culturally safe supports.
- To provide high quality support to the Safe Connections Support Practitioners and leadership team ensuring the Safe Connections program is delivered in a professional and ethical manner.
- To build and maintain relationships with local service providers to strengthen the support and service provision for Safe Connections service users.
- To develop and hold a framework that values relationships and reflects the principles of inclusion, respect, participation and transparency.
- As a member of the greater Lifeline Darling Downs and South West Qld Ltd (LDDSWQL) team, facilitate the achievement of LDDSWQL philosophy, mission, strategy and its annual goals and objectives.
- To engage effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders to promote the Safe Connections program and develop partnerships within the South West region.
- To ensure the compliance and delivery of reporting requirements as per the respective program funding agreements including ongoing communication with the designated funding body representatives.
- To engage with Indigenous families, developing an understanding of the specialised cultural needs.

Key Selection Criteria

- First Nations person with skills and experience in delivering domestic and family violence support or a willingness to learn and obtain these skills.
- Demonstrated experience in engaging with and providing emotional support, advocacy and referral options for clients.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering culturally safe supports to First Nations people.
- Demonstrated ability to develop strong working relationships with a broad range of key stakeholders with particular emphasis on Community Controlled Organisations.
- Demonstrated commitment to working within a professional team and also working independently.
- Demonstrated commitment to maintaining safe working environments and personal/skilled growth through supervision of self, including a commitment to an appropriate level of self-care.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the principles and practices of Employment Equity, Ethical Conduct and Work Health & Safety.
- Demonstrated good communication skills both verbal and written, with an emphasis on effective interpersonal skills negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated ability to proactively support the Values, Principles and Purposes of LDDSQWL.
- Current "C" class driver's license.
