Currently, there are around 5.5 million Australians with a disability. The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 717,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability. For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need. The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability and will mean a peace of mind for every Australian.
New roles await
The Safety, Wellbeing & Security (SWS) branch has been formed to ensure that our organisation and its people are healthy and well and our NDIA team is achieving participant outcomes in a safe and secure workplace.
The Protective Security team sits within the SWS branch and is responsible for compliance with Australian Government security frameworks, associated legislation and Agency-specific policies. It is the team's role to safeguard the Agency's people, participants, information, and physical environments through a coordinated and people-centred protective security program.
The team is seeking to fill Regional Security Advisor vacancies to provide technical and specialist support to the Protective Security team, contributing to the delivery of consistent, risk-based protective security across the Agency's national footprint.

We are looking for experienced individuals to take the lead in ensuring compliance with the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and relevant Commonwealth legislation, with a focus on providing technical advice to support awareness, training, compliance, and project design and planning.
APS6 Regional Security Advisor
As the APS6 Regional Security Advisor you will:
* Support site managers and staff to meet protective security obligations, monitor and report compliance with mandatory security frameworks, and assist with security, emergency management and incident reporting protocols.
* Provide protective security advice to the Agency and strategic partners, prepare and review security plans, conduct site security reviews and risk assessments, and identify emerging security issues, incidents and trends with recommended solutions.
* Assist in the development, review and maintenance of protective security policies, procedures and projects, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the Agency's security posture and culture.
* Contribute to Protective Security Team operations, including management of agency security operations, oversight of security maintenance programs, troubleshooting system faults, and responding to operational security matters Australia-wide.
APS5 Assistant Regional Security Advisor
As the APS5 Assistant Regional Security Advisor you will:
* Provide protective security advice to the Agency and strategic partners; develop, maintain and review security policies, procedures and plans; monitor and report on compliance with mandatory security frameworks.
* Prepare and review security plans, site security reviews and risk assessments; support emergency management and incident reporting; identify, analyse and report emerging security risks, incidents and trends.
* Contribute to Protective Security Team (PST) management of day-to-day security operations, including oversight of security maintenance programs, troubleshooting and rectification of security system issues; drive continuous improvement through security training, awareness and education initiatives.
* Obtain security metrics and provide reporting to support risk-based decision-making; contribute to the development, management and delivery of protective security projects across the Agency.
Enough about us, let's talk about you
Our ideal candidate will demonstrate:
* Comprehensive understanding of Australian Government security frameworks, legislation, PSPF and ASIO standards, with demonstrated experience in physical security, technical security or protective security roles within government, infrastructure, corporate or regulated industries.
* Proven experience providing technical advice on access control, intrusion detection/alarms, CCTV, electronic key management, duress/intercom systems, and associated network or infrastructure dependencies.
* Excellent communication skills and proven ability to liaise with a broad range of stakeholders delivering accurate, specialised advice.
* A solutions-focused approach and the initiative to independently resolve emerging issues.
A Certificate IV in Government Security or relevant qualification or job experience in Australian Government Protective Security will be highly regarded.
Successful candidates will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance, undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, Worker Screening check and/or Working with Children Check and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.
