Position Overview

Human Resources Officer – a permanent part‐time position (0.6 – 0.8 FTE by negotiation) based in Launceston, Devonport or Burnie with regular intrastate travel required.

Reports to the Operations Manager. The role provides high‐quality operational HR support, including recruitment and onboarding, employee and volunteer records management, workforce administration, policy implementation and coordination of Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) systems.

Key Responsibilities

* Recruitment coordination and onboarding of employees, volunteers, students and Board members.
* Maintain employee and volunteer records, manage workforce documentation and reporting requirements.
* Implement and coordinate WHS systems – incident reporting, audits, training coordination and risk management for both physical and psychological safety.
* Support staff, volunteers and Board members to access appropriate workplace supports and reasonable adjustments, including those in the Lived Experience Engagement Program.
* Handle sensitive personal information with professionalism, discretion and integrity, upholding confidentiality, relevant legislation and Laurel House policies.
* Assist in policy development and implementation related to HR, WHS and diversity.
* Perform other duties as required to support a safe, inclusive and trauma‐informed workplace.

Qualifications & Experience

* Experience providing HR administration or generalist HR support, including recruitment coordination, onboarding and workforce documentation within a complex organisation.
* Sound working knowledge of employment legislation, workplace health and safety requirements and industrial instruments (including the SCHADS Award).
* Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion, sound judgement and strong professional boundaries.
* Experience supporting WHS systems – incident reporting, audits, training coordination or risk management, with a focus on both physical and psychological safety.
* Highly organised and digitally confident, with experience using Microsoft Office and HR or workforce systems.
* Demonstrated commitment to trauma‐informed and intersectional feminist practice, and a genuine belief in valuing lived experience as expertise within the workplace.
* Capability to work collaboratively with supervisors and leadership while exercising initiative and sound judgement.
