The Role
The ICT Analyst Programmer is part of the Aeronautical Information Technology (AIT) Team, at the Aeronautical Information Service - Air Force (AIS-AF) located at Victoria Barracks Melbourne.
The ICT Analyst Programmer role at AIS-AF is responsible for the following:
* Accountable to design, code, test, correct and document moderately complex programs and program modifications from supplied specifications, using agreed standards and tools.
* Develop test artefacts and supporting data using provided specifications and perform moderately complex activities and tasks to test behaviour, functionality and integrity of systems r software under routine direction from supervisor.
* Perform, analyse and document test results in accordance with established plans and procedures.
* Manage priorities and contribute to the review of other team members' work.
* Research, analyse and evaluate the features and capabilities of a particular business domain and best practice in software development.
* Understand and apply knowledge of the business domain and the systems current functionality.
* Build and sustain effective working relationships with team members and actively participate in team work and group activities.
* Engage with internal stakeholders to meet user needs, expectations and concerns.
* Design and recommend solutions to issues impacting on the achievement of desired outcomes.
* Investigate and resolve problems using expertise and take the initiative to identify alternative courses of action.
This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Collective Agreement (DECA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. About our Team
Aeronautical Information Service - Air Force (AIS-AF) is an Air Force unit responsible for the provision of timely, accurate and relevant Aeronautical Information Publications (AIP) that supports Australian Defence Force (ADF) operations globally. AIS-AF is responsible for the production of both paper and digital AIP with a specific focus on Australia, Asia and the Indo-Pacific region.
The majority of work is conducted in an office environment at Victoria Barracks - Melbourne utilising proprietary design tools, geospatial databases, desktop publishing software and standard Microsoft applications.
Our Ideal Candidate
To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated experience in ICT software development. Experience in spatial data integration and transformation are highly regarded, however training will be provided as required. You are able to establish and maintain strong relationships within a network of internal and external stakeholders. You will be able to identify and resolve technical ICT issues related to software, database and network. Our ideal candidate will have the opportunity to develop software engineer skills through applying research, interpretation and application development using latest technologies to support business continuous improvement.
