Principal Civil Engineer – Urban and Transport (250002KI)
Stantec is expanding its Urban Development capability in the Australian Capital Territory and is seeking a Principal Civil Engineer for the Canberra team. This leadership role offers flexible working arrangements and the opportunity to drive community‐focused civil engineering projects.
Day‐to‐day responsibilities
* Lead project design teams and ensure all design documentation meets statutory standards and client requirements.
* Oversee drafting and design outputs to maintain high technical quality and commercial viability.
* Build strong relationships with clients, manage scope changes, and contribute to business development.
* Provide technical input into feasibility studies and complex design challenges, offering practical, cost‐effective solutions.
* Mentor junior staff and support their professional growth within a collaborative team environment.
* Contribute to business strategy by supporting implementation of action plans and identifying growth opportunities.
* Lead or contribute to proposals and business development with clients.
Qualifications and experience required
* Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
* Demonstrated experience in consulting, or recognised as a Principal Engineer in transport, land development, or civil infrastructure projects.
* Professional Engineering registration.
* Strong technical expertise and ability to produce accurate design documentation.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Proven time‐management and organisational skills, including resource management and delegation.
* Commitment to ongoing professional development through CPD, training, and seminars.
