Mustang Grocery and Butchery is a well-established local business located in one of the busiest commercial areas of Cloverdale, near the Belmont Forum Shopping Centre, at 211 Belmont Avenue, Cloverdale, Western Australia 6105. Renowned for its high-quality fresh produce, premium meats, and exceptional customer service, the business is seeking an experienced and motivated Retail Manager to oversee daily store operations, lead and develop the team, and drive overall store performance while maintaining the highest standards of service, compliance, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage the day-to-day operations of the grocery and butchery store.
* Lead, train, motivate, and supervise retail and butchery staff
* Ensure outstanding customer service and handle customer enquiries or complaints professionally
* Monitor sales performance and implement strategies to meet and exceed targets
* Oversee stock ordering, stock rotation, and inventory control
* Ensure correct handling, storage, and display of fresh produce and meat products
* Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety compliance
* Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety regulations
* Manage staff rostering, attendance, and performance reviews
* Control costs, reduce wastage, and improve profit margins
* Oversee visual merchandising and promotional displays
* Liaise with suppliers and negotiate orders where required
* Ensure accurate cash handling, banking, and POS operations
* Monitor pricing, margins, and competitor activity
* Implement company policies and procedures consistently
* Resolve operational issues efficiently and proactively
* Support recruitment and onboarding of new team members
* Ensure store presentation meets brand and customer expectations
* Prepare reports on sales, stock, and performance as required
* Foster a positive, respectful, and team-focused work environment
What We're Looking For
* Previous experience as a Retail Manager or Assistant Manager (grocery or food retail preferred)
* Strong leadership and people management skills
* Sound understanding of retail operations and stock management
* Excellent communication and customer service skills
* Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
* Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends
* Strong problem-solving and organisational skills
