Primary objective
This position is primarily responsible for the day to day operations of the off-site archives facility including supervision of staff,
overseeing archives projects and coordinating records into secondary and/or permanent storage at NT Archives. This position also
provides advice to internal and external stakeholders regarding archival policies and procedures and Records Disposal Schedules.
Context statement
Information Management Services provides best practice advice and records management services to NTG client agencies.
Structured into several work streams, a wide range of services are delivered, including records management, help desk services,
records appraisal, sentencing and disposal, training development and delivery and Freedom of Information.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Develop, implement, maintain and promote records disposal and retention standards and procedures in the archive facility.
2. Supervise, train and develop employees in the Archives area, responsible for handling and maintaining semi-active and inactive
records and monitor performance to ensure a high quality service is provided to clients.
3. Provide strategic advice to business units to ensure appropriate, accountable, consistent and cost effective identification,
maintenance and disposal of records.
1. Develop appropriate procedures for the maintenance, security and protection of records, particularly those of permanent value,
including all formats e.g. paper-based, electronic etc.
5. Train personnel in the correct handling, appraisal and sentencing of records in accordance with approved procedures and
authorised schedules.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Proven experience and knowledge in all aspects of records management and archival principles and procedures as they relate
to an environment dealing with diverse, complex and confidential records.
1. Experience in the training and development of staff in the correct handling, management, appraisal and sentencing of records.
2. High level interpersonal and communication skills both oral and written with the ability to provide strategic advice to business
units regarding records management practices.
1. Good communication, organisational, planning and negotiation skills focussed on positive outcomes and continuous
improvement.
5. Demonstrated work ethic and attitude which emulates DCDD values of commitment to service, innovation, ethical practice,
accountability, impartiality, diversity and respect.
Desirable
1. Experience in the use of an electronic records management system such as Content Manager, TRM.
