As a Medical Officer, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality medical care to patients. Your responsibilities will include assessing Defence personnel for fitness for duty and providing care that supports the health and wellbeing of members pre and post deployments.

You'll form part of a multidisciplinary team working towards the shared purpose of achieving and maintaining the health and wellbeing of Defence members. You'll be required to provide medical technical advice to the Joint Health Unit (JHU) Commanding Officer (CO), Joint Health Command (JHC) Health Centre Manager and Commanders of units.

You'll work closely with a team of Senior Medical Officers and uniformed colleagues to deliver primary medical care to patients in accordance with professional standards, legislation, and Defence Policies and Procedures. You may be required to provide services in either an outpatient setting or inpatient care setting within a ward.

This is a unique opportunity to make a positive impact by working as part of a dedicated team that provides healthcare services to Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel across Australia. In partnership with Bupa, our ADF Health Services team provides integrated healthcare services to Defence personnel.

The Williamtown Health Centre is located 30km north of Newcastle at RAAF Base Williamtown. The base is one of the busiest in New South Wales, employing over 4500 people. The health centre provides primary medical, aviation medical, outpatient, dental, nursing, physiotherapy, mental health, and pharmaceutical services. Standard operating hours are generally 0730-1530 Mon-Fri, depending on role requirements.

To be successful in this role, you'll need to have a strong foundation as a General Practitioner, with a passion for providing the highest quality medical services. You'll require a friendly and professional manner that puts patients at ease, and a commitment to inspiring trust from both patients and colleagues alike.

Key qualifications include:

- Current unconditional and unrestricted registration as a Medical Practitioner, General in Australia with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

- Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) OR, Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) OR Vocational Registration.

- Minimum of 2 years full-time post graduate general practitioner experience in a general practice setting within the last 5 years (or part-time equivalent).

- Recent participation in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities in accordance with AHPRA.

- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID009) certification.

As an Australian citizen, you must obtain the required Baseline Security Clearance for this role.
