About the Role
Support the conservation and management of the State’s biodiversity through high-quality data services.
The Biological Data Officer plays a key role in maintaining and managing the Department's biological databases to ensure biodiversity data is accurate, accessible and fit for purpose. The role supports the ingestion and maintenance of biological records, resolves data quality issues, and assists stakeholders in the effective use and interpretation of biodiversity information.
You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders across government, research and the community, and contribute to legislative functions by supporting Scientific Research Permit approvals and Wildlife Ethics Committee processes.
We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, collaborative and committed to maintaining strong data standards that support conservation outcomes.
Responsibilities
* Maintain and manage the Department’s biological databases to ensure biodiversity data is accurate, accessible and fit for purpose.
* Ingest and maintain biological records; resolve data quality issues.
* Assist stakeholders in the effective use and interpretation of biodiversity information.
* Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across government, research and the community.

Contract
Ongoing, part-time 22.5 hours per week.
Essential Qualifications
Tertiary qualification in environmental science or a related discipline.
Special Conditions
* May be required to participate in responses to state emergencies or associated duties.
* You must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or provide evidence that you hold a valid working visa that allows you to work in Australia without restrictions.
* Prior to being employed, the successful applicant will be required to obtain a National Police Check.
* A current class “C” driver’s licence and willingness and ability to safely operate a vehicle when required.
* May be required to undertake intra or interstate travel and work outside of the normal hours of work.
Remuneration
PO1, $68,478 min - $83,594 max p.a., pro rata for part time hours.
