In this role, you will direct work groups and/or units engaged in activities associated with the planning, construction, maintenance, operation, repair, renovation, alteration, and demolition of buildings, structures, equipment, machinery, and other facilities.

You will obtain, evaluate, and negotiate bids from outside engineering, architectural, and construction firms. Establish schedules and budgetary controls, allocate expenditures, and oversee the coordination of major construction activities requiring integration with engineering, architectural, contracts, and government agencies.

Ensuring compliance with contract specifications, insurance requirements, and local building codes is also a critical aspect of this position.

Key Responsibilities

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

1. Directing work groups and/or units engaged in activities associated with the planning, construction, maintenance, operation, repair, renovation, alteration, and demolition of buildings, structures, equipment, machinery, and other facilities.

2. Obtaining, evaluating, and negotiating bids from outside engineering, architectural, and construction firms.

3. Establishing schedules and budgetary controls, allocating expenditures, and overseeing the coordination of major construction activities requiring integration with engineering, architectural, contracts, and government agencies.

4. Ensuring compliance with contract specifications, insurance requirements, and local building codes.
">
5. Reviewing and approving architectural/engineering drawings.
">
6. Participating in the department strategic planning process and ensuring appropriate skills are available when needed.
">
7. Developing and maintaining relationships with other engineering organizations to keep abreast of developments in allied fields.
">
8. Interpreting, executing, and recommending modifications to organizational policies and corporate initiatives.
">
9. Establishing and maintaining quality systems and instilling values and ethics.
">
10. Hiring employees, managing dismissals, conducting performance evaluations, planning, and approving salary increases, managing discipline, and documenting steps in problem employee situations.

11. Establishing department and individual performance goals, reviewing employees' performance against goals, championing, coaching, and motivating team members, developing, and training subordinates.

12. Performing all other duties as assigned.
