* Fixed term role part time (0.20 FTE) until 31 December 2026 at the Bourke Campus of Broken Hill University Department of Rural Health (possible extension dependent upon funding)
* Facilities Maintenance Assistant role supporting delivery of Rural Clinical Placements and Education
* Base Salary 64,904 (pro rata for 0.20 FTE) + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated Facilities Assistant to join our Bourke Campus team. This role plays a vital part in maintaining the safety, cleanliness, and functionality of campus buildings and student accommodation across our Bourke campus region, which includes Bourke, Brewarrina, Cobar, Lightning Ridge, Goodooga and Walgett.

The position supports student placements in our Bourke campus region and contributes to the delivery of services at the Bourke Campus. It forms part of the Broken Hill University Department of Rural Health (BHUDRH), which is funded under the Commonwealth Department of Health's Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training (RHMT) Program.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

* maintain clean and sanitary environments across administrative, teaching, and accommodation spaces
* implement necessary repairs and maintenance to campus buildings and student accommodation
* ensure cleaning and maintenance equipment is in good condition and used safely
* follow safety protocols and promptly report any facility-related issues
* identify and communicate facility concerns to ensure safety and well-being
* support the delivery of student placements and campus operations in the North West region
* contribute to the upkeep of facilities that support rural health education and research
* work under the supervision of the Facilities Officer and collaborate with the Campus Support Officer
* apply established processes to complete tasks and resolve routine matters within defined responsibilities.

About you

* experience in building maintenance or facilities support
* ability to operate cleaning and maintenance equipment safely and effectively
* strong understanding of workplace safety procedures
* proactive approach to identifying and resolving facility-related issues
* ability to work collaboratively in a distributed team environment
* currently living or ability to relocate to the Bourke campus region of the BHUDRH (includes Bourke, Brewarrina, Lightning Ridge, Walgett, and Cobar) and any surrounding townships.
* current drivers licence
