About the opportunity
Due to internal growth at Beta Hunt, Westgold Resources are on the lookout for a Senior Operations Engineer to spearhead business improvement initiatives by collecting and analyzing key performance indicators, physical data and cost metrics in relation to the budget and mine plan.
This newly created position will be based at Beta Hunt Operation in the Southern Goldfields and offered on a family friendly 8 days on. 6 days off roster.
The role includes
Track and analyze and interpret mining cost metrics.
Monitor Mine Performance: Track operational metrics to ensure production targets and safety compliance.
Analyze Operational Data: Assess KPIs and cost metrics to align activities with objectives.
Forecast Physicals and Cost performance using historical data, trends and mine planning models.
Optimize mining methods: Improve techniques, advise technical team on mine design and ground support systems as it relates to an operational perspective.
Evaluate equipment utilization: Review machinery performance and liaise with maintenance team to optimize maintenance schedule.
Conduct operational audits: Audit processes, prepare reports, and propose improvements for efficiency.
Provide technical training: Support team adoption of best practices and operational standards.
Ensure safety compliance: Identify and mitigate risks while upholding safety protocols in underground mining activities.
Explosives Management: Oversee explosives use on-site, ensure legislative compliance, and fulfill duties as Appointed Explosives Officer. Manage appointments of secured persons, magazine keepers, and shotfirers responsibly.
What do I need?
Experience in Mine Planning and/or UG Shift Management
Behaviour consistent with Westgold Values.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team.
Ability to plan and work effectively and efficiently and with a minimum of supervision.
Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices.
Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the business and ability to work in a team.
Familiar with the instructions in the associated Standard Work Procedures.
Practical and theoretical knowledge for the use of underground Long Hole Drill.
Able read technical documents, such as mine plans, charge plans and specifications.
