Role Overview

This position provides comprehensive environmental support to assigned geographic regions and/or organizational units. It involves moderately complex technical work across a wide range of environmental disciplines to ensure compliance with corporate environmental standards and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

The role is performed under general direction, with the expectation that the incumbent will independently develop and implement solutions. Work is reviewed for adequacy in meeting objectives.

The incumbent applies specialized technical expertise to develop, implement, and maintain environmental programs, systems, and procedures. The position uses experience and judgment to anticipate and prevent environmental incidents and hazards, and conducts investigations of any incidents that occur. The role also includes recommending improvements to processes, designs, procedures, and equipment to reduce environmental risks.

Additionally, the incumbent provides regulatory interpretation and technical advice, and maintains a current understanding of relevant government requirements and the scientific and technical aspects of those regulations as they impact company operations.

Key Responsibilities

* Serve as a single point of contact or coordinator for environmental activities requiring broad knowledge and experience to achieve compliance solutions.
* Provide direction on moderately complex activities to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and corporate requirements.
* Develop, implement, and recommend improvements to environmental programs, systems, and procedures.
* Provide regulatory interpretation and technical advice to various stakeholders.
* Collaborate with subject matter experts and customers to ensure consistent and thorough implementation of environmental programs and policies.
* Anticipate and help prevent environmental incidents and hazards; lead and conduct investigations of environmental incidents.
* Recommend and implement improvements in processes, designs, procedures, and operating equipment to minimize environmental risk.
* Maintain current knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations and their practical impact on operations.
* Ensure scientific and quality assurance standards are met in all analyses and reporting.

Required Qualifications

Education:

* Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, health, safety, or related field.

Experience:

* 0–5 years of related work experience with a degree.
* In lieu of a degree, 5 years of directly related work experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

* Broad knowledge of environmental regulatory compliance requirements and scientific practices.
* Familiarity with quality assurance principles.
* Strong collaboration, communication (oral and written), and interpersonal skills with a customer-oriented mindset.
* Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management.
* Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
* Technical proficiency in the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory and field equipment.
* Ability to work independently while contributing to team efforts.
