Position Overview
The Head of Sales & Marketing is a critical senior leadership role responsible for driving the commercial growth of G. PATRITTI & CO. PTY LTD across domestic and international markets. This position oversees the full sales and marketing strategy, leads market development initiatives, manages key export relationships, and ensures brand positioning aligned with the company's long-term strategic objectives.
The role requires wine industry expertise, strong commercial acumen, and proven capability in building and managing international distribution networks, particularly in Asia. It also demands a unique blend of operational understanding, financial literacy, cross-cultural negotiation skills, and the ability to develop brand identity and market presence for a heritage winery undergoing strategic transformation.
Given the specialised nature of this combined skill set, the position requires a candidate with extensive experience in both sales & marketing strategy and knowledge of production processes, enabling them to represent the brand authentically at a global level.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Sales Leadership
2. Develop and execute multi-year sales strategies across domestic wholesale, on-premise, retail, direct-to-consumer, and export channels.
3. Identify new market opportunities and lead expansion initiatives in Asia-Pacific, Europe, and North America.
4. Set annual sales targets, pricing strategies, and channel goals aligned with company profitability objectives.
5. International Market Development
6. Manage relationships with global distributors, importers, agents, and key accounts.
7. Lead negotiations for market entry, product registration, pricing, and contract terms.
8. Represent the company at international trade fairs, exhibitions, delegations, and industry events.
9. Brand & Marketing Leadership
10. Oversee brand development, positioning, and storytelling for all Patritti labels.
11. Direct digital strategy, social media, content creation, and customer engagement programs.
12. Lead marketing campaign design and execution, including seasonal promotions, product launches, and trade marketing support.
13. Portfolio & Product Strategy
14. Work closely with winemaking and production teams to align vintage planning, market demand, and product positioning.
15. Provide market insights to guide product development, packaging, and pricing.
16. Manage SKU matrix and oversee product lifecycle management across all brands.
17. Financial & Commercial Management
18. Prepare annual sales budgets and forecasts.
19. Monitor sales performance, margin analysis, channel profitability, and ROI on marketing spend.
20. Ensure compliance with export regulations, shipping documentation, trademark requirements, and market-specific labelling laws.
21. Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
22. Lead the sales and marketing team, including hiring, training, performance reviews, and capability development.
23. Collaborate with production, finance, logistics, and cellar door teams to ensure operational alignment with sales objectives.
24. Provide regular updates to executives and directors on commercial performance and strategic outcomes.
Essential Skills & Experience
* Extensive experience in wine sales and international market development, with a strong track record in Asia-Pacific markets.
* Knowledge of winemaking, enabling credible product representation and the ability to bridge communication between customers and production teams.
* Proven capability in managing strategic brand development, digital marketing, and consumer engagement.
* Strong financial literacy, including pricing structure design, P&L management, forecasting, and margin optimisation.
* Experience working in wine businesses undergoing growth.
* Ability to operate across multiple disciplines simultaneously (sales, marketing, export management, strategy, compliance).
* Exceptional interpersonal skills and cross-cultural communication ability.
* Demonstrated success in building distribution networks and securing new market entry pathways.
* Must be bilingual
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree with at least 1 year of relevant post-qualification experience; OR
* At least 5 years of verifiable full-time relevant experience (Sales and Marketing), including at least 1 year as a Team Leader.

Pay: $130,000.00 – $150,000.00 per year
