JOB DESCRIPTION

Jak Hospitality group is seeking expression of interest from qualified and experienced Cooks (multiple) for Parkview Hotel (Orange), Millthorpe Hotel (Central West), Parrot Distilling Co (Orange) locations.

Skills Required: Minimum Certificate IV in Cookery or have a minimum of 12 months of relevant work experience. Salary range offered is $60,000 to $70,000 plus superannuation dependent on your skills, experience, and uniqueness you will bring to the business. An ideal candidate should be professionally qualified and/or experienced in a busy environment and can work under pressure. These traineeship positions are open to Australian Chefs as well as overseas Chefs with a motivation to learn and dedication to learn and contribute to our business vision.

Key duties for this position are as follows:

• Working under supervision and reporting to the senior chef/s to enhance skills and techniques on cooking, presentation, SOPs for quality, and regulatory compliance.

• Assisting senior chefs and observing kitchen operations to understand leadership, mentoring, and team dynamics.

• Supporting in the preparation of menus, production schedules, and understanding food costing, budgeting, and staffing considerations.

• Participate to contribute to delivering a unique dining experience and understanding the development of signature offerings.

• Assisting in the development and planning of menus and daily specials under supervision.

• Receiving guidance and hands-on training in cooking techniques, food assembly, and presentation from senior chefs.

• Observing and assisting with maintaining standards for food storage, rotation, quality, and appearance.

• Helping monitor stock levels, food quality, and learning inventory and waste control practices.

• Gaining knowledge of food hygiene, sanitation standards, kitchen equipment use, and relevant regulatory requirements, and applying them in day to day tasks.

• Cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment, storage, and work areas according to established schedules.

• Observing and learning about the recruitment process by supporting the team during kitchen staff interviews where required.
