AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain.
Role
* Provide full life‐cycle support to AWS Data Centers from design inception through site improvement and maintenance.
* Be the go‐to engineering resource for your region when technical advice is needed.
* Interface with internal data center design engineering, server hardware, and environmental health and safety teams to promote standards that maintain consistency and reliability.
* Own the design for existing data center upgrades and design solutions to add capacity, improve availability, and increase efficiency.
* Work on concurrent projects, sometimes in multiple geographical regions.
* Initiate and lead engineering audits, including on‐site visits within Amazon's leased or owned data centers, producing reports outlining risks and recommending mitigations.
* Act as resident engineer during new construction projects, supporting construction, commissioning, and turnover.
* Engage with stakeholders across Operations, Commissioning, Construction, and Design to build trust and relationships.
* Adapt to rapidly changing environments and fieldwork requirements.
Key Job Responsibilities
* Perform design and equipment submittal review for new Data Centers in your region.
* Troubleshoot, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and create Corrective Action (CA) documentation for site/equipment failures.
* Directly support operational issues with ad‐hoc training, complex operating procedure reviews, and event support.
* Own the design for existing data center upgrades and design solutions that increase capacity, availability, and efficiency.
* Interface with internal teams to promote standards that maintain consistency and reliability.
* Work on concurrent projects across multiple regions.
* Initiate and lead engineering audits, producing risk reports with recommended mitigations and remediation.
* Act as resident engineer during new construction projects, supporting construction, commissioning, and turnover.
Basic Qualifications
* 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities (e.g., data centers, power generation, or oil and gas facilities).
* 4+ years of commissioning experience.
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
Preferred Qualifications
* Professional Engineer License.
* Experience with building codes and regulations for your region.
* Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment or mass production.
* Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
