The GM oversees all aspects of the organisation's operations—including competition management, talent development, stakeholder engagement, and financial performance—while ensuring the delivery of high-quality basketball experiences for members, branch clubs, and the broader community.This is a pivotal leadership role with responsibility for shaping the future of basketball in the region, building strong partnerships, and promoting a culture of integrity, inclusion, and continuous improvement.Key Responsibilities1.
Strategic Leadership and GovernanceDevelop, implement, and evaluate a multi-year strategic plan that aligns with the Seahawks' values and community aspirations.Provide high-level strategic, operational, and governance advice to the Board of Directors.Drive the creation and execution of annual business plans, performance indicators, and organizational reporting structures.Ensure robust risk management, policy development, and compliance with Basketball Queensland, Basketball Australia, and local government regulations.2.
Basketball Program & Competition OversightLead the planning, administration, and delivery of all Seahawks basketball operations including:Domestic Competitions(Juniors, Seniors, Daytime, and Social Leagues)Representative Pathways– Junior and Senior Seahawks, NBL1 NorthCollaborate with technical directors, competition managers, and branch clubs to align competitions and development frameworks.Oversee scheduling, venue bookings, referee management, and game day logistics across all venues and affiliated branch programs.3.
Commercial Partnerships, Sponsorship & MarketingDesign and lead a comprehensive commercial strategyto diversify revenue through sponsorship, grant funding, and fundraising initiatives.Build and maintain strategic relationships with sponsors, funding bodies, and commercial partners, ensuring clear value delivery and retention.Oversee all branding, communications, media, merchandise, and digital engagement, ensuring consistent representation of the Seahawks identity.Lead marketing campaigns that grow brand awareness, community reach, and participation.Prepare and manage the annual budget, financial forecasts, and funding strategies in collaboration with the Treasurer and Finance ManagerLead financial operations including P&L management, financial reporting, invoicing, and grant acquittals.Ensure compliance with auditing, financial reporting obligations, and NFP best practices.Provide the Board with timely and transparent financial and operational updates.5.
Stakeholder Engagement & CommunicationServe as the lead representative and liaison with all internal and external stakeholders including:Affiliated branch clubsand domestic competition representativesPlayers, families, volunteers, and life membersLocal government bodies (City of Gold Coast, State Departments)Basketball Queenslandand Basketball AustraliaLocal schools, sponsors, community partners, and media outletsFoster strong collaboration and clear communication with branch clubs to ensure alignment on competition delivery, governance, and development.Implement communication strategies to ensure members are informed, consulted, and engaged across the year.6.
