Accounts Clerk – Trainee (Identified Position)
Burrun Dalai Aboriginal Corporation (BDAC) is a not-for-profit Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisation (ACCO), providing support to Aboriginal children and young people, their birth families, foster families, and communities. We are led and governed by an all-Aboriginal Board of Directors and operate offices in Kempsey, Taree, and Tamworth.
About the Role
This identified position is for Aboriginal applicants. The Accounts Clerk – Trainee role provides practical experience and training in financial administration while completing a nationally recognised qualification (Certificate III or IV in Accounting/Bookkeeping). You will receive structured learning through a Registered Training Organisation and on-the-job mentoring. This position can be situated in any of our three offices located in Taree, Kempsey and Tamworth.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with data entry of financial transactions into accounting systems
Support accounts payable and receivable processes
Help reconcile bank statements and financial records
Maintain filing systems for invoices and receipts
Assist with preparing reports and spreadsheets
Respond to internal and external queries regarding accounts
Participate in training and development activities
Selection Criteria
Aboriginality
Willingness to undertake formal training in accounting/bookkeeping
Commitment to a highly confidential work environment
Strong diligence and accuracy
Good communication and people skills
Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions
Possess and retain a current NSW Driver License (P1 or above)
Ability to travel to other offices occasionally which will involve overnight stays
Completion of Year 12 or equivalent
Previous experience in an office or administrative role
Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., MYOB, Xero)
