About the role
Altrad is seeking an experienced and commercially minded SMP Estimator to join our Brisbane office on a full-time basis. In this role, you will lead estimating activities across maintenance projects, with a focus on labour rate development, SMP scopes, and the preparation of high-quality, commercially viable tenders. You'll play a key role in supporting business strategy, maintaining estimating standards, and driving successful project wins.
Responsibilities
* Leading the development, maintenance, and governance of labour rate models, ensuring accuracy, competitiveness, and compliance with EBAs, market data, and client requirements
* Providing specialist estimating input into structural integrity scopes, including scaffolding, rope access, SMP, and coatings
* Preparing and managing cost estimates for maintenance projects from enquiry through to submission and award
* Coordinating estimating resources, allocating work, and monitoring progress to meet deadlines
* Conducting risk assessments and commercial reviews across all estimates
* Liaising with clients, internal stakeholders, and operations to clarify scope, assumptions, and deliverables
* Supporting proposal teams with tender clarifications, presentations, and negotiations
* Maintaining estimating databases, norms, and historical records to drive continuous improvement
* Capturing lessons learned and feedback from bids and projects to refine estimating practices
* Mentoring and training junior estimators in maintenance methodologies
Qualifications
* Demonstrated experience in maintenance estimating or estimating leadership roles within resources, energy, or industrial sectors
* Expertise in labour rate development and application of EBAs, allowances, and statutory requirements
* Strong knowledge of structural integrity works, including inspection, repair, and remediation scopes
* High commercial awareness and ability to balance accuracy with competitiveness
* Competent in estimating software, MS Excel, and database management
* Proven ability to manage multiple bids and resources under tight deadlines
* Excellent problem-solving, stakeholder management, and communication skills
