Claims Hero, an innovative claims management start-up, is on the hunt for an ambitious and meticulous Claims Executive/ Advocate to bolster our team. As a Claims Executive, you will be integral to our operations, becoming an advocate for our customers' rights. You will take the reins in managing claims from inception to conclusion, ensuring a seamless customer experience, precise documentation, and expedient settlements. We are seeking a candidate who embodies excellent communication and negotiation skills, unwavering attention to detail, and a strong capacity to champion for our clients' interests. Someone who has worked in the insurance industry but feels misaligned with its priorities will find new purpose at Claims Hero, where they can finally focus on what truly matters, helping people navigate difficult times and secure fair outcomes.

Responsibilities

* Manage and process claims from initial submission to final resolution (predominately property claims).
* Review and assess claims documentation, including supporting evidence and relevant information, to determine eligibility and coverage.
* Conduct thorough investigations to gather all necessary information and evidence to support claims, collaborating with relevant parties such as policyholders, witnesses, and third-party providers.
* Conduct initial client interviews and claims reviews.
* Write detailed submissions to support claim acceptance and payment.
* Negotiate settlement amounts with insurers or their legal representatives, ensuring fair and equitable resolutions.
* Stay up to date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in claims management, continuously enhancing knowledge and skills.
* Support and manage continuous improvement initiatives across the claims business unit.

Skills and Qualifications:

* Proven experience in claims handling, preferably in the insurance industry. Previous experience as a claims manager, assessor, complaints specialist/advisor or AFCA case manager / ombudsman highly desired.
* Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience (highly regarded).
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex claims and make sound decisions.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey information and negotiate with stakeholders.
* Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills, ensuring accurate and thorough claims documentation.
* Proficiency in using claims management software or systems, with the ability to navigate and leverage technology effectively.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
* Knowledge of insurance policies, coverage terms, and industry regulations is highly desirable.
* Self-motivated with an ability to prioritise own workload and identify opportunities to improve business processes.
* Professional certifications in claims management or related fields are a plus.

Claims Hero does not currently have an office in Sydney or Melbourne, so this role will initially be based from home. While most administrative and claims management tasks can be completed remotely, the position will also involve onsite work where required. This may include attending client homes to assess property damage, meet with clients, or coordinate inspections and other activities related to claims.

Occasional interstate travel may be required to collaborate with fellow team members and engage with the wider Claims Hero team for training, planning, and team-building activities.
