Job Description
We're looking for an eLearning Developer/Graphic Designer to join John Holland's Training Academy as a Training Development Specialist. The Academy is a national team of 18 members focused on delivering high‐quality, scalable training solutions across the business.
What You'll Be Doing (and Doing Well) Partnering with SMEs and stakeholders
You'll work directly with subject matter experts and stakeholders to clarify needs, define the problem to solve, and shape the right solution through a methodical, trust‐building approach.
Transforming complexity into engaging training
You'll take complex, often unstructured technical content and translate it into clear, learner‐friendly training, using copywriting, storytelling, diagrams, infographics, and workflows to enhance understanding and engagement.
Designing and developing learning across multiple formats You'll create training solutions including
* eLearning modules, including interactive builds using Articulate Rise 360
* Instructor‐led and blended learning resources, including engaging PowerPoint slides with facilitator notes and learner resources
* Instructional videos and multimedia learning assets
* Project inductions and technical training content
Applying visual and multimedia capability
You'll use Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop to develop visually compelling learning assets and support the production of multimedia content (video, animation, digital learning assets).
Driving quality, consistency, and efficiency
You'll contribute to standardising learning content approaches, ensuring improved consistency across training outputs and enabling scalable, repeatable rollouts of training initiatives across the business.
Improving and refining learning through feedback
You'll implement feedback mechanisms, evaluate training effectiveness, and continually refine content to lift engagement and retention.
Essential – What you'll bring
* Proven experience designing and developing training across eLearning and instructor‐led delivery
* Strong instructional design capability (e.g. ADDIE)
* Excellent written communication and copywriting skills
* Experience working with SMEs to extract, structure, and refine content
* Strong stakeholder engagement and consulting capability
* Experience using eLearning authoring tools (e.g. Articulate 360)
* Experience with visual/multimedia tools (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite – Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
* Experience using a Windows PC
* Experience using Microsoft products (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word)
Highly regarded experience
* Experience developing training within construction and engineering environments
Qualifications
* Ideally a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, along with qualifications in instructional design, graphic design, and eLearning instructional design
