Job Description
This is a hands-on leadership role with significant responsibility for livestock welfare, safety, and station operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of cattle handling, horse riding, and station operations including bores, fencing, machinery, and construction.
The successful Lead Stockperson will be responsible for mentoring and training junior staff, ensuring safe work practices and continually assessing and improving safety systems.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and mentor the stockcamp team, fostering strong communication across teams.
* Train and develop team members according to the Operations Skills Framework.
* Ensure safe behaviors and continually assess and improve safety systems.
* Maintain livestock welfare in line with industry standards and our Animal Welfare Policy.
Requirements
* Minimum 4 years' experience as a Station Hand or Leading Hand/Head Stockperson.
* Strong cattle handling and horse-riding skills.
* Solid understanding of station operations, including bores, fencing, machinery, and construction.
* Knowledge of Livestock Production Assurance and Cattle Care Quality Assurance programs.
* Current Driver's Licence and Firearms Licence (Class A and B).
