King of the Hills (KOTH) is the flagship operation of Vault Minerals Limited and one of the largest gold mines in Australia. After a significant expansion, KOTH now features a 5.2 million tonne per annum (Mtpa) processing plant, providing a solid platform for long-term production growth. This dynamic operation combines open-pit and underground mining, with exciting exploration activities driving the future. KOTH is located approximately 900 km northeast of Perth and 25 km north of Leonora, within the Goldfields Region of Western Australia.
Reporting to the Open Pit Mining Superintendent, the Open Pit Medium to Long-Term Planning Engineer plays a key role in ensuring the efficient operation of the King of the Hills Gold Mine. This position is responsible for developing and delivering open pit production plans, preparing interim designs, conducting performance reporting, and reconciling production targets to support operational excellence.
The position will be offered on an 8:6 FIFO roster from Perth.
Key responsibilities of this role will include:
* Always act in a manner that seeks to enhance the culture of safety and performance of Vault Minerals Limited are adhered to at all times.
* Demonstrated ability to operate safely and maintain and promote safe production.
* Delivery of practical 3-month open pit mine plans in line with budget and forecast, and all on site principal engineering.
* Delivery of mining forecasts (6-9 month open pit mine plans), budgets and plans in line with company guidance, assumptions and good mining practices.
* Develop, maintain and improve site data tracking and reconciliation practices and systems.
* Undertake engineering project and interim work for operations as required.
* Provide engineering support to Geologists, Mine Surveyors, short term planners, drill and blast engineers, mine services contractor as required.
* Assist the mine manager in developing and updating streamlined reports and reporting systems development.
* Software and planning gap analysis and data analysis as required.
* Monitor the engineering systems and business processes, identify and prioritise improvement opportunities and formulate alternatives and improvements to systems and methods.
* Assist the mining superintendent and mine manager with the implementation of site initiatives, continuous improvement and change management.
* Consistently demonstrate and reflect behaviours, actions and attitudes in line with the company's Vision, Values and Code of Ethics and actively promote the Company's policies, systems and procedures relating to HR, OH&S and Environment within your area of responsibility.
About You
* Bachelor's degree in mining engineering with extensive expertise in open-pit mining operations and mine planning.
* Proficient in the use and application of Deswik Spatial and Integrated Scheduler plus MS Office Suite.
* Proven experience in developing and executing daily and weekly work schedules to ensure operational performance and timely delivery.
* Optimising mine plans to enhance efficiency, maximise production, and reduce costs. Demonstrated ability to design and implement mine tracking and reconciliation systems for improved accuracy and reporting.
* Strong analytical, reporting, and risk assessment capabilities, complemented by exceptional communication skills and the ability to engage and influence stakeholders across all organizational levels.
* Knowledge of the statutory requirements of the Western Australian Mining Act and Regulations, as well as the Work Health and Safety (WHS) Act.
* Possession or willingness to work towards obtaining WA Quarry Managers ticket.
* Hold a WA Driver's License (manual C Class).
