We are seeking an experienced
Civil Engineer
to support for renewable energy projects (PV/BESS) and Transmission Lines are in progress. Various projects are planned in the NEM region.
About The Role
* Manage and oversee all civil engineering activities for solar power plant projects, ensuring alignment with project goals and client expectations
* Maintain an overview of entire projects while continuing to attend to detailed technicalities
* In-charge of the management of the civil department's local staffing, resources, mentoring, and maintaining a best-in-class engineering department
* Conduct detailed site evaluations, including topographical, geotechnical, and hydrological assessments, to support project feasibility studies
* Develop detailed engineering designs for site layouts, grading, drainage, access roads, retaining structures, and foundations, tailored to Australian conditions
* Design and optimize the various type of PV post foundation as per geotechnical information
* Manage the day-to-day activities of the civil engineering teams against delivery commitments and project plans
* Prepares engineering design by collecting and studying reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photographs, and tests on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and related topographical and geologic data
* Prepare and review technical drawings, reports, and specifications using advanced design software
* Prepares clear and comprehensive reports, technical notes and client or public presentations
* Supports estimating with generation of engineering quantities
* Conduct value engineering to ensure optimal project execution
* Supports the permitting work
* Ensure all designs comply with Australian Standards (AS), National Construction Code (NCC), and state-specific regulations
* Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including electrical engineers, environmental consultants, project managers, and contractors, to deliver integrated project solutions
* Identify and mitigate risks related to ground stability, stormwater management, and extreme environmental conditions in Australia
* Provide technical guidance during construction phases, ensuring compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and quality assurance protocols
* Serve as the main point of contact for civil engineering matters, liaising with clients, local authorities, and other stakeholders
About You
* Tertiary Qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
* Proven experience in navigating state-based approval processes and securing construction permits in Australia
* PE (Professional Engineer)/CPEng / RPEV/ RPEQ accreditations preferred
* Ability to work in remote locations or travel to project sites as required
* 10+ years' experience in design, consultancy in an engineering capacity
* Track record of successfully managing multidisciplinary teams and delivering projects on time and within budget
* In-depth knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices, particularly for large-scale renewable energy projects
* Strong understanding of Australian Standards (AS), National Construction Code (NCC), and local state-specific regulations & engineering practices
* Expertise in geotechnical, hydrological, and environmental considerations for infrastructure projects in Australia will be preferred
* Familiarity with permitting processes and environmental compliance in Australian jurisdictions
* Advanced proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, STAAD Pro, and related tools for civil design
* Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities for solving complex engineering challenges
* Leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor junior engineers
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration and stakeholder engagement
