Salary Range - $113,721 to 132,341 (depending on skills and experience) plus superannuation

The Role
As the Senior Development Arborist, you will play a key role in protecting and enhancing the City of Mitcham's urban tree canopy. Working closely with the Planning team, you will provide expert arboricultural advice on development applications, assess and manage compliance with relevant legislation — including the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act and the Native Vegetation Act — and lead investigations into unlawful tree-damaging activities. This role also involves building strong relationships with internal stakeholders and the community to promote best practices in tree management, while contributing to strategic initiatives that support the long-term sustainability of Mitcham's natural environment.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
* A Diploma (or higher) in Arboriculture or currently studying towards it.
* In-depth knowledge of the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act and working knowledge of the Native Vegetation Act.
* Significant experience in assessing arboriculture reports and compliance matters.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build credibility and confidence with diverse stakeholders.
* A customer-focused mindset and the ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively.
* Strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to innovation and teamwork.
