Downer Professional Services comprises of three business units our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice, and Team Downer, which partners with CASG and NSSG as a major service provider to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for clients across Defence and National Security.
We currently have an opportunity for a Systems Engineer in Canberra to work on Joint projects.
What You'll Do
This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including:
Maintain and manage engineering artefacts such as Systems Engineering Management Plans (SEMP) and Technical Certification Plans (TCP).
Support and guide engineering and configuration management activities, assisting Engineering and System Managers in ensuring compliance and effective delivery.
Develop and review capability requirements and procedural documentation, ensuring accuracy and alignment with technical and operational needs.
Interface between Engineering Manager and System Managers, collaborating on systems engineering, certification, and integration documentation.
Prepare for governance and assurance boards (CCBs and ERBs), perform quality control on vendor documentation, and contribute to engineering audits.
What You'll Bring
CASG Project Engineering Expertise: Demonstrated experience in Defence project engineering activities, planning, and systems engineering.
Technical Risk & Safety Management: Proven familiarity with software system safety, security, and managing complex technical risks.
Defence Systems Knowledge: Experience with Defence Command and Control (C2) systems and applications.
Core Technical Competence: Strong understanding of modern networking, computers, and operating systems, supported by advanced technical writing skills.
Professional Capability: Effective stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with engineering qualifications and the ability to work independently, showing initiative and responsibility.
Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
