Spoil Management Expert
The Torrens to Darlington project is a major infrastructure development that requires efficient spoil management practices. The successful candidate will oversee the handling, transportation, and disposal of spoil generated from construction activities.
This role involves a combination of technical knowledge, project management skills, and environmental awareness to ensure that spoil is dealt with in a safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant manner.
Responsibilities
* Oversight of spoil management plan including excavation, loading, haulage, and disposal activities.
* Ensuring spoil handling adheres to all relevant environmental regulations and policies.
* Collaboration with project team to identify suitable disposal locations and methods including recycling or reuse options.
* Liaising with contractors, consultants, and regulatory authorities to ensure proper documentation and compliance with spoil management requirements.
* Monitoring and reporting on volume and type of materials excavated, transported, and disposed of.
* Conducting risk assessments and implementing mitigation strategies to minimize environmental impact of spoil disposal.
* Collaboration with supervisor and other engineers to integrate spoil management into overall project plan.
* Developing and maintaining project documentation related to spoil management including tracking systems and reports.
* Investigating and resolving any issues that arise in spoil management process such as contamination or transportation challenges.
* Providing technical support and guidance to site personnel regarding spoil handling and disposal.
* Implementing continuous improvement initiatives to optimize spoil management practices.
About You
* Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (i.e. Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Structural/Mechanical Engineering); 2+ years post qualification experience
* Knowledge of relevant environmental legislation and best practices related to excavation and waste management.
* Industry experience in road, bridges, and/or tunnelling projects with direct experience in spoil management preferred.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
