This is a great prospect for a Marine or Transport Insurance Lawyer (2–4 PQE) looking to broaden disputes experience into class actions, international regulatory investigations, and cross-border litigation. You’ll join a nationally integrated, multi-partner team that sits within one of Australia’s leading practices for shipping, offshore energy, ports, aviation, and international trade. The team handles high-profile litigation, arbitration, and regulatory matters for clients across shipping, logistics, construction, aviation, and natural resources, with a particular focus on marine casualties, liability disputes, and cross-border risk. The work spans contentious and non-contentious matters, including collisions, groundings, cargo losses, vessel arrests, charterparty disputes, port incidents, and complex admiralty litigation, as well as risk advisory, contracting, and regulatory compliance. There is growing demand for class actions and government investigations connected to transport, energy, and commodities, providing an prospect to deepen technical expertise in marine and trade while expanding into larger-scale, multi-jurisdictional disputes. 
You’ll work closely with two highly respected partners — one ranked in the Hall of Fame for maritime law and the other a rising figure in aviation and transport disputes. The team is collaborative, hands-on, and invested in your progression, with a strong learning and development framework, including formal training in international trade and shipping law, and regular access to structured mentoring. The role sits within a globally connected disputes team, offering exposure to international matters and a highly utilised secondment program. You’ll have high levels of client contact, flexibility in how you work, and significant scope to develop both technical and commercial skills in one of the most specialised and respected teams in the country. 
Responsibilities 
- Handle contentious and non-contentious matters related to marine and transport disputes, including collisions, groundings, cargo losses, vessel arrests, charterparty disputes, port incidents, and admiralty litigation. 
- Engage in risk advisory, contracting, and regulatory compliance work. 
- Develop expertise in class actions and government investigations connected to transport, energy, and commodities. 
- Work closely with partners and participate in an international disputes practice with secondment opportunities. 
- Maintain high levels of client contact and contribute to a collaborative, mentoring-focused team environment. 
Qualifications 
- Qualified lawyer with 2–4 years’ Post-Qualified Experience (PQE) in marine or transport insurance or a closely related field. 
- Interest or experience in disputes, class actions, regulatory investigations, and cross-border litigation.
