The Role
The Safety Advisor at Patties Food Group plays a pivotal role within the business to develop, implement, and maintain Work Health and Safety policies and manage best practices to ensure a healthy and safe workplace for all employees. Based in Bairnsdale and reporting to the Group Safety & OHS Manager, this role will focus on the following duties and responsibilities:
1. Enhance personal and workplace safety, demonstrating leadership in safety awareness.
2. Collaborate with the Head of Safety and OHS to create, implement, and review Safe Work Procedures and Risk Assessments.
3. Perform site-based audits and safety walks to identify and address risks.
4. Focus on reducing Lost Time Injuries (LTI) and Medical Treatment Injuries (MTI) and their severity.
5. Act as the RTW Coordinator, handling workers' compensation and return-to-work processes for injured employees.
6. Present safety briefs to site management teams, providing updates on safety statistics and actions.
7. Liaise with regulatory bodies to maintain compliance with mandatory regulations and safety standards.
8. Coach employees and managers on health and safety initiatives and ensure appropriate training and resources for first aid.
The Person
The successful applicant will have demonstrated experience in a similar role, ideally within the FMCG industry, and possess:
1. A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role.
2. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
3. Ability to contribute to a positive and professional team environment.
4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
5. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel).
6. Ability to influence and make decisions.
7. Mechanical aptitude or prior manufacturing experience (desirable).
