About the Role:
In your role as a Procurement Category Manager, you will play a key part in delivering strong commercial outcomes across our capital program. Working closely with the Capital Engineering team, you will help ensure every dollar of capital spend achieves best value through robust supplier selection, effective negotiation, and disciplined contract management.
You will engage early in the project lifecycle to shape sourcing strategies, support market approaches, and provide commercial insight that strengthens decision making. From major equipment purchases to specialist services and a diverse range of operational activities, you will bring structure, consistency, and governance to supplier engagement while reducing risk and maximising value.
You will build positive relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers, champion safety and environmental standards in all interactions, and contribute to continuous improvement across procurement processes and project delivery.

Role Responsibilities:
* Partner with the Capital Engineering team to provide hands-on commercial support and influence key project decisions.
* Lead supplier selection processes from market approach to evaluation, driving best-value outcomes.
* Negotiate pricing and contract terms to secure strong commercial and risk outcomes.
* Build and manage supplier relationships, proactively resolving issues and supporting performance.
* Provide clear reporting and insights on spend and savings, ensuring governance and safety standards are met.
About you:
We are looking for someone who brings:
Essential:
* Proven procurement experience gained within a similar role, supported by a relevant degree (e.g. Engineering, Finance/Commerce or Law).
* Strong commercial and analytical capability, confident working with data, analysing costs, building value cases and applying a Total Cost of Ownership approach.
* Strategic procurement capability, with experience designing and implementing procurement strategies within structured category management frameworks.
* Relationship-building expertise, with the ability to build trust and credibility with suppliers and internal stakeholders to deliver strong commercial outcomes.
* Excellent communication and delivery skills, with proven planning, facilitation and implementation experience in dynamic business environments.
Desirables:
* Professional accreditation, such as membership of CIPS or an equivalent professional body.
* Understanding of business law and contractual principles relevant to procurement.
* Experience operating within a structured or centre led procurement model.
* Awareness of modern procurement practices and evolving best practice approaches.
* Experience working cross-functionally and supporting change in fast-paced environments.
