Senior Systems Protection Technician Role Overview:
Our organisation is seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Protection Technician to undertake maintenance and commissioning of primary, secondary, and communications equipment. This involves working with power stations, utility sectors, and mining industries to ensure the safe and efficient operation of electrical systems.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Safely undertake work to approved standards of quality, cost, and time, ensuring safety remains the primary focus at all times
2. Maintain and Fault Find primary and secondary systems in line with Australian standards
3. Continually gain experience Maintaining, Fault Finding and Commissioning other primary and secondary systems
4. Assist with the completion of documents and other reporting systems
5. Comply with safety and environmental systems and procedures
6. Comply with business procedures and systems
7. Liaise and participate in on-site project planning with other relevant stakeholders
8. Work collaboratively with Engineering and Planning support teams
9. Provide on-site supervision and instruct other employees on task and safety
10. Lead and coordinate project teams on-site
11. Perform other duties and responsibilities as required
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Experience in taking responsibility for carrying out Maintenance and Fault Finding of Protection systems to customer network
2. Consistently demonstrated experience in taking responsibility for carrying out Commissioning of Protection systems with low impact to Customers, Infrastructure & Safety
3. Competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications
4. Ability to review and update electrical schematic and wiring diagrams
5. Technical skills including panel wiring, testing and maintenance of HV electrical and protection systems
6. Competent skills with user programs for test and communications software
7. Advanced Protection Testing Skills in Generator Protection
8. Experienced in Mining, Utilities, Commercial and Private network Protection Testing
9. Ability to write Test Plans for different Protection Testing schemes
10. Ability to use and drive various types of electrical test equipment e.g. Omicron and Doble
11. Advanced knowledge of operation, maintenance and development of the electrical supply system
12. Proven experience in effectively communicating with others both verbally and in writing, including customers
13. Proven capability to work effectively within a team or work crew
14. Demonstrated highly effective organisational and planning skills
15. Demonstrated ability to investigate and solve technical and practical problems
16. Applied experience in reading and interpreting schematic and wiring diagrams
17. Demonstrated cognitive skills in relation to learning and understanding new skills and concepts
18. Proven leadership skills
