About the Role:
The Senior Software Engineer - Learning and Teaching Applications, will:
Provide leadership, advanced technical expertise and direction for the University's IT environment, encompassing software and associated services. The Senior Software Engineer role serves as a critical resource in implementing and maintaining technology solutions, working closely with stakeholders to understand their business needs and requirements and align these with the University's strategic objectives. The role provides leadership on complex solutions from design to implementation and advises on technology selection, architecture and implementation strategies. Additionally, the role will collaborate with cross-functional teams to align strategies with the University's goals, driving innovation and enhancing the institution's technological capabilities for a seamless and optimised IT landscape. This role provides technical leadership and mentorship to less experienced software engineers and other team members.
About You:
As the Senior Software Engineer - Learning and Teaching Applications, you will have:
Strong understanding and hands-on experience with
• Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and Event-Driven Architecture (EDA)
• Design, implementation, and working with RESTful APIs
• Modern software development principles, patterns, and best practices
Technical Experience
• Full-Stack Development (5+ years):
o Backend: C# .NET Core, Entity Framework
o Frontend: TypeScript with Angular or React
• Cloud-based application development on Azure and AWS
• Developing and maintaining LTI integrations and tools
• Application and system lifecycle management, including monitoring, upgrading, and patching
• Writing and maintaining unit tests
• DevOps and CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and Terraform
• Database expertise with MS SQL Server (schema design, stored procedures, jobs)
Additional Skills & Familiarity
• Agile development methodologies
• Project and documentation tools: JIRA and Confluence
• Cloud technologies and services (Azure & AWS)
• Automation and Test Automation frameworks
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices
• DevSecOps principles and secure software delivery

Remuneration:
Base Salary Range: $140,965 to $147,678 pa (HEW 9)
This role attracts 17% superannuation in addition to the base salary.
