Leading Software company based in North Sydney requires a Senior MS SQL DBA for a 12 month contract. As an experienced MS SQL Database Administrator with strong AWS RDS and Aurora experience to support and optimise a cloud-based data environment. This role is responsible for the availability, performance, security, and scalability of SQL Server databases supporting critical business applications. You will work closely with cloud, infrastructure, and application teams to ensure stable operations while enabling continuous improvement and migration to cloud-native services. On a daily basis you will; Administer, monitor, and support MS SQL Server databases across production and non-production environments Manage SQL workloads on AWS RDS and Aurora (PostgreSQL/MySQL compatibility advantageous) Ensure high availability, performance tuning, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery readiness Support cloud database migrations and modernisation initiatives Implement security best practices including access controls, encryption, and compliance standards Automate routine DBA tasks and improve operational efficiency Troubleshoot and resolve complex database and performance issues To succeed in this role you will have; Strong hands-on experience as an MS SQL DBA Proven experience managing databases in AWS RDS and Aurora environments Solid knowledge of SQL Server performance tuning, indexing, and query optimisation Experience with backup, restore, HA/DR strategies (Multi-AZ, replicas, failover) Familiarity with cloud monitoring, logging, and automation tools Experience in regulated or enterprise environments is advantageous Nice to have; Experience with database migration tools and cloud modernisation programs Exposure to DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, or Infrastructure as Code AWS certifications (Associate or Professional level) In return a fantastic daily rate is on offer A hybrid work model is in place.
